Connie Darlene Frisby, 45 of Fannett, died March 30, 2007 at UTMB Hospital in Galveston.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Connie is survived her mother, Linda Whitehead and her companion Pete Rodriguez; father, Sidro Mendoza, Sr. of Houston; fiancé, Glen Gunnlaugsson; son, Augustine Castro, Jr.; daughters, Jenna Castro, Brittany Bricker all of Fannett; brothers, Carl Whitehead, Jr. and his wife, Monica of Hamshire, Sidro Mendoza, Jr. of Kemah; sisters, Rhonda Meguess and her husband, Kendall of Fannett and Michelle Duhon and her husband, Adolph of Hamshire.

KENNETH DENEAN GIBBS

Kenneth Gibbs, 88 of Winnie, died March 29, 2008 at the Arboretum of Winnie.

Kenneth had lived in the Winnie area since 1978, he retired from Arco’s as a pumper and was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnie.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie.

JOYCE P MITCHELL

Joyce P. Mitchell, 80 of Winnie, died March 31, 2008 at her residence.

A native of Hattisburg, MS. and a twelve year resident of Winnie, Joyce was a greatly loved wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband, Ed Mitchell of Winnie; son, Jamie Mitchell and his wife Beth of Houston; daughters, Cheri Mitchell of Winnie, Tamara Harris and her husband, David of Katy, Rebecca Mullinix and her husband, Bruce of Devers, Jennifer Adler and her husband, Mark, Heather Rochow and her husband, Brian all of Houston; brother, Charles Pilkington and his wife, Mary of Louisville, KY; twelve grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Cremation was through Broussard’s Crematorium 5150 Stivers in Beaumont.

DUSTIN WAYNE KERSHAW

Dustin Wayne Kershaw, 12 of Winnie died in an accident March 19, 2008.

Dustin had lived all his life in the Winnie area and was a student at East Chambers Middle School. He loved his family, skateboarding, video games and his friends.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie.

Dustin is survived by his mother, Laurie Kershaw of Winnie; father, Marcus Kershaw, Sr. and his wife, Melissa of Vidor; brothers, Marcus Kershaw, Jr., John Odom, Jr.; sisters, Fayth Burge, Gabriella “Gabby” Kershaw, Serenity Kershaw; grandmother, Darlene Davis of Pt. Acres; grandfather, James Lee “Butch” Smith of Winnie; grandmother, Cindy Landry ( Gralynn) of Sulphur, LA., and grandfather, Lawrence Kershaw (Kathy “Butch”) of Crystal Beach; uncles, Robert Davis of Pt. NEVA MARIE RABEL

Neva Marie Rabel, 71, of Jasper, died March 7, 2008 at Jasper Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A native of Winnie, she graduated from Beaumont High School in 1954 and attended Due Nursing School before moving to Houston. While in Houston, she was a secretary in the hospital, insurance and petroleum industries. There she met the love of her life, Henry Rabel. They were married November 10, 1956, and the union lasted 51 years. She retired in 1991 as tax accessor/collector for the City of Liberty. Marie then moved to Jasper and co-owned Country Corner Resale Shop with her sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Monday, March 10, 2008 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Winnie. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Dr., Winnie. A Rosary will be recited at 11:30 AM Monday at the church.

Marie is survived by her husband, Henry Rabel of Jasper; sons, David Rabel and wife, Elaine of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Bryan Rabel and wife, Ela of LaPorte, Gregory Rabel, Corey Rabel and wife, Amber, all of Houston; sister, Bertha Parfait and husband, James of Jasper; uncle, Wallace Lulue of Santee, California; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Nolan and Leona Lulue Guidry of Beaumont; and two brothers, Wayne Guidry and Marvin Guidry.

Nancy Ellen Alvarado, 68 of Winnie, died March 2, 2008 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Winnie, 120 E. Pear, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Rafael Alvarado of Winnie; sons, Mitchell Royer and his wife, Natalyn of Anahuac, Matt Alvarado and his wife, Blair of Cypress; daughters, Molly Duraso and her husband, Paul “Wimpy” of Sulphur, Tracie Royer of Winnie; brother, George Stobart, III and his wife, Christine; sister, Joyce Trahan all of Winnie; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Alis Elizabeth Mayes, 91 of Anahuac, died January 17, 2008 at the Winnie Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Double Bayou with burial to follow in Martha Godfrey Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 am until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Mayes is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Mayes of Anahuac, one sister and one brother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Mayes.

JOSEPH OTIS CLEMENT

Joseph Otis Clement, 76 of LaWard, Texas, died January 16, at DeTar Hospital Navarro in Victoria.

Otis was a heavy equipment operator and had lived in LaWard for twenty years, and was formerly of the Winnie area.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Broussard’s in Winnie with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

JOSEPH ADAMS, JR

Joseph Adams Jr., 62, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at his residence.

A native of Port Arthur, he lived in Winnie for the past 40 years. Joseph was formerly a Medical Laboratory Technologist for several physicians in Winnie. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Lamar University, Beaumont, he pursued his career as Hospital Administrator in Anahuac. He was presently Business Manager for South County Physical Therapy Inc. in Port Arthur. Joseph served in the United States Marine Corps.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Tinker Adams of Winnie; daughters, Traci Stewart of Winnie, and Kimberly Adams Truman and her husband, Bill of Houston; sons, Clint Stewart and his wife, Tobi of Pecos, and Richard Jason “R.J.” Adams of Dallas; brother, Carlos Adams and his wife, Leah of Groves; sister, Patricia Orozco and her husband, Edward of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandchildren, Devin Cryer, Katherine Truman, Madeline Truman, Jillian Stewart, Bryton Stewart, Hadyn Stewart and Sarah Truman. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Adams and mother, Frances Adams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Dr., Winnie with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

JEWEL CAROLINE SPILLERS FITZGERALD

Jewel Caroline Spillers Fitzgerald, 85, of Anahuac, Texas passed away Friday, November 23, 2007. She was born on March 22, 1922 to James Jackson and Minnie Iola (Elmer) Spillers in Pelly, Texas. Jewel was a member of First Baptist Church of Anahuac. She was a “Prayer Warrior”. She loved to cook, meet new friends, and help anyone that was in need. Jewel was a member of “WMU” and the Women’s Civic Group.

Jewel is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of thirty-two years, Carl J. Fitzgerald; and a brother, James Spillers. She is survived by her daughters, Carlene Egloff of Double Bayou and Debbie Nelson and husband Don of Ingram; sons, Jimmy Fitzgerald of Double Bayou and Steve Fitzgerald and wife Patti of Winnie; grandchildren, Sonja Virden and husband Mike of San Angelo, Travis and Kristen Nelson of Ingram, Kyle Egloff of Double Bayou, Katie Fitzgerald of College Station, and Tyler Fitzgerald and wife Nikki of Double Bayou; great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Hailey Virden of San Angelo; sister, Marty Ball and husband Curt of Baytown; niece and nephew, Lori and Joel; and numerous friends and neighbors.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday, November 25 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.
